Group Ride Review 22nd Feb '09
After the success of our December XC local trails group ride we
thought it was time to do yet another XC ride...
The start point for this local ride was Coombe Hill
Car Park. The ride led us about 15miles around the very muddy
Chilterns, including tracks at Coombe Hill, Chequers, Cadsden and
Whiteleaf.
We had a very small attendance for this months XC
group ride, but never the less it was certainly a very enjoyable ride.
Trail conditions for this ride was a mixed bag. Some
tracks were lovely and fast and dry, others muddy, and others almost
unrideable in places. Certain areas were very poor due to thick gloopy
mud left over from the snow earlier in the month.
For those that joined us on the ride they all went home having ridden
in some very tricky trail conditions (a credit to them all!), and also
on some new tracks not ridden by them before.
One crash, one large mechanical and one lost brake
pad later we arrived back at Coombe Hill to end the ride. Total ride
time was around two and half hours, which wasn't bad considering some
very bleak and unrideable trail sections!!
All in all it was yet another great
ride, and another fantastic group ride.
Thank you to all that came, and we
hope to see you all again for the next BMTB Group Rides - more news on
that coming very soon.
Happy riding
