Beyond the Bike, Tandem, from Livingston
to London
One
of our club members, Harriett Turner has sent in this event
preview regarding an amazing charity fundraiser her cousin is
completing this year. Harry's cousin,
Stuart Block, will be cycling from Livingstone, Zambia to
London, on a tandem bike, over the course of a year, starting
later this summer - a challenge known as "Beyond the Bike".

A race on the theme of novelty! The 6th edition of the
Transmarocaine takes place on a completely new way between
Ouarzazate and Marrakech, with a great crossing of the Atlas,
from south to north, a total distance of 250 km done in 5 steps.
The strengths of this Transmarocaine are: a great adventure
kayaking on Lake of Ouarzazate, mountain biking trails on the
Atlas, a great trail around the mountain M'Goun whose summit is
over 4000 meters, and orientation in unusual places.

Two new dates for your 2011 diaries... After the success of the
2010 Duathlon series last year we are pleased to report that the
Mud & Mayhem event is back in Thetford for 2011. The first leg
of the Duathlon series will be located in Thetford forest on
20th March. Also NEW for 2011 - The team behind Mud & Mayhem are
combing with three other races to offer the Scott X Tri off road
triathlon series. The first event is in Northampton in May 2011.

the 2006 Aston Hill DH Series took place this weekend, also marking
the final race for Aston Hill under the ownership of Ian Warby. Well
over 300 riders turned out to end the race season in style and to

MTB festival took place last weekend, namely the
Fat Face National mtb Championships at Moelfre in Wales. A three day
event with riders from downhill, 4x, trails, and XC competing for

Ian
leaves the hill...
Those
of you that ride at Aston Hill are more than likely aware who Ian
Warby is - the man behind the hill, from both behind the desk and
the one wielding the pick axe... Along with the trail building and
membership club commitments his coaching courses running like
clockwork have been essential to the success of so many of the young
riders on the hill that have progressed through into pro racing or
just progressed to a better level.

Wycombe Summit MTB Local XC

Some of you may
have raced a Wycombe Summit MTB event at the old ski slope in High
Wycombe. Due to a fire at the old ski slope and
the building being destroyed the Summit MTB series has relocated to
the Chiltern1XV club wood, Lotts Wood, which is near Great
Missenden. A whole series of XC races is on the cards for 2006....
