Buckingham Bikes Demo Day
Review
Buckingham
Bikes took over Aston Hill this Sunday for another one of their superb demo
days, but don't worry if you've missed it, Buckingham Bikes are also around
on Monday 9th May [tomorrow].
This year
both Trek and Scott USA bike manufacturer's were there to showcase their
bikes and to support Buckingham Bikes.

^ The Scott USA Genius Range

^ The Trek range - The
Session 7, the Liquid, and the Fuel Ex
It was
good to see a wide selection of bikes from both brands; including downhill,
freeride, all-day trail bikes and out and out XC bikes... even a road bike
got in on the act...
The carbon
fibre Scott Scale hardtail bikes, were something special amongst the XC
bikes present, especially with full XT groupset and fox forks that put
together an image in my head of an ideal lightweight XC rig.

Hardtails
The much
awaited Trek Session bikes were also there to fit the freeride mtb
discipline. With 7in travel at the back, Manitou stance forks up front,
Hayes discs, and a good overall weight, they rode really well on most of the
Aston Hill terrain. It was another great example of a very versatile do it
all bike.

^ The new Trek Session 7
Scott's
new High Octane was also there for the DH boys - this year coming in
stealthy black, with two versions available for the privateer DH racer.

^ The new bottom spec High Octane

Along side
the High Octane was the new Nitrous SL model, with the mighty Manitou Nixon
fork with an amazing travel setting control mounted on the handlebar. The
Nitrous seems to be an extremely versatile bike - lots of travel,
adjustable, but light at the same time - a possible winner in the Freeride-Light
market for sure.

Nitrous SL's
New for
this year, the Trek Fuel Ex is the 4in trail/XC bike take on last years 3in
rear travel Trek Fuel Bike. This also had handlebar mounted travel comtrol
that worked both front and rear suspension. On the tight twisty singletrack
of the Aston Hill XC track they rode like a dream. It ripped round Aston
Hills XC course a treat.

^ One of the impressive Trek Fuel Ex bikes
Scott and
Trek both had a full selection of the top spec and budget bikes for most
disciplines of riding. We've only showcased a few we feel were damn good and
worth looking at for proper mountain biking.

^ Even a Trek road bike was on display
Aston
Hill's car park looked the business as well, with the Buckingham Bikes,
Scott USA and Trek vans, pit tents and banners all up with the rows of shiny
new bikes.
The best
part of the day, well.... it must have been John's superb burgers.....
Its nice
to see these events being put on, so that you really can try the new bikes
in your own riding areas, to see what best suits you.
Ok so the
day wasn't set up for us entirely [although its nice to think it would
be...] but we would like to give a big shout out to Buckingham Bikes, Trek,
Scott USA and Aston Hills time for putting on the event and giving us
something worthwhile to do on a very sunny Sunday afternoon. Nice one!
John? Can
i have another burger? Please...
