Cycle Show 2007, Earls
Court - EVENT REVIEW
11-14th October
This
years cycle show was held at Earls Court allowing the show to be
bigger with more stands and an indoor mountain biking course. This
gave the public the chance to ride on some of the latest bikes from
some of the top manufactures including trek, Scott, Gary fisher and
mongoose. There was also commuter track giving the public a chance to
try some of the latest town bikes in an urban environment.
All the big names
were there minus Giant which like last year very disappointingly was
not there as we were looking forward to seeing the new Trance X.
Highlights of the show included:
Scott
USA were showing off their latest Spark
bike, with the limited model weighing
in at 9.35 Kg and the Scale
limited at a very impressive 8.55 kg - the
lightest yet!! Also on their stand was a new ranges of bikes called
Aspect, which replaces their reflex
range and Gambler, their new DH bikes.
The Specialized
stand was split into two half’s displaying the women specific bikes as
well as the rest of their full range
of bikes. These bikes included the
Stumpjumper HT, Epic & Enduro as well as the
new Stumpjumper FS with Enduro inspired rocker link. Also on
display was their new all mountain offering
the Pitch and Specializeds
new Future Shox.
Trek, which
were not at the show last year, were showing of their new Fuel EX’s
and Madone’s. The new fuel comes in both carbon and aluminium.
New features on the bike were the active brake point that allows the
suspension to continue to move under braking. Also the new full
floater system. The shox now floats on two moving linkages that now
gives a more precise end stroke compression. For more info visit the
trek website trekbikes.com. The Madone
was a peace of art with a new design and even more sloping curves
making up treks new OCLV line up. Also on
treks stand was the winning Madone from the Tour De Francs as well as
Treks 69er line up.
Look were
displaying their new hard tail mtb that looked absolutely stunning
with its integrated seat post and stunning flowing lines. This bike
should have a few companies worried and we would expect to see a lot
of these bikes in races next season.
