This
BucksMTB group ride is our main January 2012 Open XC Group Ride Event. The ride is open to both BucksMTB Club Members and visiting riders (non Club members). Non club members are welcomed to join us for up to three group rides to see if you like the Club before joining.

This ride is open to Cross Country (XC) riders of all levels of ability. The event is not a race so the ride pace will be set to suit all riders on the day.

The Group Ride will be a led route by our BMTB staff riders and will be held on local trails in The Forest of Dean.

We will be meeting outside the Pedalbikeaway Bike Shop and Cafe at the Forest of Dean.

The ride will be starting promptly at 10:00am so please be at the car park in good time to get kitted up (especially if arriving by car) to avoid delays.

Route information for the day:

 

The route will be a led route of the Forest of Dean, taking in about 15-20miles.

Time wise leave yourself all day for this ride. We are expecting a 15:00/16:00pm finish.




Getting there/Car Parking:

How to get to the start point "Pedalabikeaway" Shop/Cafe.

Based in Gloucestershire close to the M4 River Severn Crossing at Chepstow. The nearest towns or villages are Coleford, Monmouth, Ross-On-Wye, Cinderford, and A48 Lydney. Easily accessible from M4/48, M5, M50, A40 and A49. Mainline trains via Newport or Gloucester. We are situated on the B4234 New Road.

  • By Car From the NORTH
    From the M5 JUNCTION 11 head towards Gloucester onto the A40.
    Take 3rd exit from the next roundabout and continue on the A40
    Next 2 roundabout's go straight over.
    3rd roundabout take 1st exit on to the A48. Go through Westbury on Severn. You will go under a bridge and shortly after t his take a right hand turn by the petrol station on to Elton Road A4151.
    Continue on the A4151 through Little Dean. You will soon come to a sharp bend, take the exit on to the B4226 onto St Whites Road. Continue on the B4226 until next major crossroads.
    At the crossroads take a right onto the B4234 New Road. The cycle centre where you will find Flyup is approx a mile on the left.
     
  • By Car From the SOUTH
    If coming on the M4 take Junction 21 onto the M48 and then follow instructions below.
    From the M5 take Junction 15 onto the M4 then take Junction 21 on to the M48.
    On the M48 take Junction 2. Take the right turn on to the A466 Wye Valley Link Road.
    At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit on to Newport Road A48 towards Chepstow/Lydney. Keep on the A48 until you pass the village of Aylburton, at the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the High Street. Carry on this road and take the 7th turning on the left onto Forest Road B4234.
    Continue on the B4234 until you reach a 'T' junction and then take a right. Then take the next left (signposted 'cycle centre') Carry on until you reach a major crossroads which you continue over and the cycle centre where Flyup is based will be on the left.
     
  • By Car/Sat Nav
    Post Code for Sat Nav is GL16 7EH but check the map as this may put you in the centre of Coleford or at the cottages down the road.
    Please follow the directions below once you reach the Forest of Dean as the postcode has been known to take people into the centre of Coleford!

     
  • By Train
    The nearest train station is Lydney which is approx 6 miles away

Car Parking is managed by the Forestry Commission. A parking ticket can be obtained from the machine in the centre of the car park.

Currently parking charge is £3.00 per day Nov - Feb and £3.50 Mar - Oct. This ticket is valid on the day of purchase at Mallards Pike Lake, Symonds Yat Rock, Cannop Cycle Centre and Beechenhurst Lodge.

Pre-registering is required for these events so that we know numbers attending, for things such as car parking space, number of maps required, number of staff required and so on.
