January 2007 Local Snow Report

This week we all awoke to find the Chilterns covered in a good layer of snow - certainly not what most people were expecting for a Wednesday morning...

The glorious sun filled skies of the few days previous along with cold weather, high pressure and a front moving through helped bring along a nice picturesque covering of snow all across the Chilterns and beyond.

Sadly the snow covering didn't last long, as most places saw the majority of the snow disappear over the course of the same day. Although even now though 2 days on i look up at Coombe Hill and there is still a good amount of snow to remind us of the weeks event...

This lack of endurance from the snow and weather man of course only gave really one good day of snow riding to be had, and we all know we go back to acting 5 years old again when snow is involved....

Now Chris was lucky enough to be able to get out on a ride in the snow before it all melted away - alright for some!! Wish i could have been out riding in the middle of the week!!! Trail conditions are reported back as being excellent, with the snow giving superb riding conditions and the frost having frozen all the mud in sight the tracks were riding nice and fast. Watch out for the tracks going back to normal January standards of wet and slippery as the frost thaws out and the snow melts away....

Anyway if you managed to miss the opportunity to ride in the snow again, here's just a couple of photos to make you jealous and to show you what a good covering of snow the tracks were under in and around Wendover....

Here's to at least another years wait for some more snow... cheers

Happy riding.
