Uplift
A 2 minute ride will take you from most apartments to the 'funicular' railway which runs up to Arc 1600 and places you ideally to access trails and further bike lifts. The 'funicular' runs from June 30th through until September 1st and takes around 7 minutes. There is a lift pass tariff (which includes the funicular) which depends on the season.
Biking in Les Arcs is characterized
by tons of flowing single-track and some amazing natural and man
made downhill sections.
The Cachette Downhill Piste at Arc 1600 was one of the three
venues for the Sprint Avalanche Trophy (30th June / 1st July).
Les Arcs has loads of trails and far fewer package tour visitors
than the also popular Morzine area.
Les Arcs a hidden gem for serious and not so serious riders alike.
Tignes is also worth a visit just
40km up the valley and offers natural downhill riding, good cross
country and sweeping freeride opportunities. You might consider
getting dropped at Tignes in the morning and biking all the way
back down the valley to a few welcoming beers in
Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
Les Arcs is well worth a visit and is talked about over and over
again by all who have been there and tasted the trails and the
fresh air...
