News just in, Aston Hill are to host the Southern Downhill Champs for 2009. This was finalised yesterday! Although the track is still very secret squirrel, Rich (Aston Hill) looked at it over the weekend and assured us that John Holbrook's work is looking really, really good and it's going to be a massively fun course!

Aston Hill 423 is now the Southern Downhill Champs!

Richard Abbott of Aston Hill today announced that the 423 race being held on the 13th September is now the Southern Downhill Championships, meaning that it's being granted double BCF point classification.

This should be great news for all racers keen to grab some last minute points before the season end, attracting a bigger crowd and competition from even further a field.

Richard said "I'm stoked. It's what we wanted the race to be as it's a really wicked course at a really wicked venue. We're now all looking forward to an even more exciting event with some real down-to-the-line action!"

The 423 race is being held at Aston Hill, near Wendover in Buckinghamshire, on the 13th of September. For more details on the race and how to enter, go to www.rideastonhill.co.uk/423.html

If you have not already heard the whispers, Aston Hill will be hosting its second downhill race of the year on Sunday, September 13th.

After the huge success of the Black Run race in March, we now bring you The 423, a mash up of existing tracks with some new sections thrown in for good luck.

As before there will be BC points and great prizes up for grabs, a broad range of categories (including hardtail) and some of the finest downhill trails in the south east. In our usual cagey fashion we are keeping details close to our chest but everything you need to know right now can be found online at

Did someone whisper "even better than last time round", "Gee Atherton signed helmets" and "perfect weather"? Well if they did, we can assure you of at least two! As for the weather, the guys at Aston Hill are abstaining from all things naughty just so we may in return be blessed with rays of sunshine on the day. So fingers crossed
