For those of you looking for a
Mountain Bike event that's a little bit different for 2011/2012 then this might
be up your street. The event itself is a multisport event held in Morocco that
takes in five different activities:
-
Trekking
-
Orientation
-
Running and biking
-
Mountain biking
-
Canoeing
The 6th edition of the
Transmarocaine takes place on a completely new playground between Ouarzazate and
Marrakech, with a great crossing of the Atlas, from South to North. The event
takes in a total distance of 250 km, completed in five steps.
The Transmarocaine offers adventure kayaking on Lake of Ouarzazate, mountain
biking trails on the Atlas, a great trail around the mountain M'Goun (summit is
over 4000 metres high), and orientation in unusual places.
The
scenic beauty is also real treat!
A race for everyone!
The race runs over 9 days with particpants discovering Morocco from Saturday 12
to Sunday through to March 20, 2011.
The richness of nature, the diversity of sites and the attractiveness of the
countryside for outdoor activities make Morocco an ideal playground.
Through the raid, the organisers endeavour to reveal the potential of this
beautiful country by highlighting the strong values of eco-tourism, love
of nature, respect for the environment and conviviality.
The competitors will discover Morocco and its contrasts during a sporting event
worthy of its name.
The race is designed so that each team chooses the level of difficulty of its
journey using optional tags distributed along the way.
The teams hoping to reach the top spots will have to collect more
tags than the less confident teams, which will however enjoy the ride just as
much as the others. Indeed, couples who participate revel in not giving in to
the pressure of attaining top-rankings.
Schedule-tags are also placed towards the end of the race, which
if not reached in time, will have teams regroup at the end of the day.
Every year sees fully-fledged raiders compete with beginners but
all share the same goal, to have fun.
Participants
The average age of participant is 35 years old and the event includes around 30%
of female participants and 70% of male participants. Around
20% of the teams are mixed and female.
France brings in the most competitors at around 70% of the total competitors,
another 20% attend from Europe and Morocco itself provides around 5%, other
Countries and Nations provide the last 5% of attendance.
