Boxing Day Ride
It is tradition, and I am sure that its written in some very old manuscript
somewhere that the Bucksmtb team have to go riding on Boxing Day every
year, a tradition that we have up kept for over a decade. This year was no
exception, and with so much snow still on the ground we definitely couldn't
resist going out for a spin...
A large group was forecast to
attend on the day but unfortunately due to the bad road conditions and festive
family commitments the group got whittled down to just five, but that was fine
by us, we were happy to have some company on such a fantastic day for riding!
The sun was shining, Wendover
still had a foot of snow in places and tracks were still covered in snow. Riding
conditions were entertaining to say the least, on the most the snow on the
trails was quite grippy but if you wandered off the 'worn' lines it was every
man for himself trying to control the bikes and keep them in a straight line.
The general public out walking did give us some very bizarre looks, were not
sure if they just thought we were mad to be out riding in the snow or whether is
was just astonishment that we were actually staying upright on the bikes -
either way we made a bit of a spectacle and nuisance of ourselves as usual...
The trails did still have a
large covering of snow which did make riding in it quite tough especially on the
uphills. We enjoyed a couple of short loops in and around Wendover Woods with
regular stops for photos and/or to pick ourselves and bikes back up off the
floor!
A big thank you to Mark, Kris,
Gareth and Adam that joined me out on the Winter wonderland trails today, i hope
you all dont get in too much trouble for going out riding on Boxing Day...
Until we next meet in the New
Year, happy riding and best wishes...
Kind Regards
Scott
