January 2010 Group Ride Report 30/01/2010
Bucksmtb.co.uk Cross Country XC Local Trails Ride
Out
Ten o'clock, Saturday morning - a little early for
some. This however didn't stop fourteen of you joining us
for our first Group Ride of 2010.
The event
started about twenty past ten leaving Coombe Hill
Monument car park taking in about a thirteen mile
loop of Coombe, Chequers, Cadsden, Whiteleaf,
Hughenden Manor before returning towards Coombe
Hill.
The trail
conditions were infact a lot better than we had
thought they may be, a good solid frost overnight
meant the trails were running well. A few areas of
sticky muddy still remained from the thawing of the
Tonnes of snow that the weather gods have thrown at
us over the Christmas Period.
The turn out
was great, and we thank everyone who attended. We
have a good mix of riders from various backgrounds,
riding various bikes and of various fitness levels.
We had a really
good vibe from everyone who attended, and I'm glad
that we managed to show some of the riders some news
trails and a new route that they hadn't done before.
The ride ended
back at Coombe Hill at around half past twelve. Some
of the riders went off to brave another loop of
Wendover to head off to the Woods Cafe, whilst some
of us disappeared for our afternoon plans and
appointments.
Amazingly no
punctures availed on this ride, which must be a
first. Other than my crankset causing problems the
ride went smoothly with no real mechanicals to speak
of.
A big thank you
goes out to everyone who supported the ride and
attended, it was great to see such a good turn out.
