Chiltern Hills Club Group Ride
- January 2011 Ride Report
Bucksmtb.co.uk Cross Country XC Chiltern Hills Ride
29/01/2011
We were extremely lucky with the weather for this ride, frozen trails and
almost nice weather - the Sun almost made it out for us, but not quite!
Fifteen of us braved the chilly January weather for a fifteen or so mile loop of
the Chilterns...Our ride started around
10:30am at Coombe Hill main car park with fifteen of us ready to go for a good
blast around the Chilterns. After a quick briefing and after I had made my
excuses for riding whilst recovering from a serious case of man flu we headed
off onto the trails out towards Chequers.
The trails were riding extremely well in the
morning - hard frozen yet bumpy conditions got us up to speed and got a good few
miles out of our legs before the trails started to thaw. We did well, the trails
started to thaw around half round the loop, with only a few really wet and
sticky patches appearing.
Our route took us from Coombe Hill down
towards Chequers, out to Cadsden before a good loop round Whiteleaf, then
returning once again via different trails through Cadsden and Coombe with a few
extra single track loops before reappearing back at the car park.
We had a good mixed group for this ride,
regulars, new faces and riders of varying fitness and riding experience, it
meant for a really nice paced social XC ride with lots of new friends made - a
great success! Also thanks to our friends Jessica and Danielle from
Astounding Adventures who traveled from the
Surrey area to join us for our ride.
Thank you to everyone who came
and supported the ride, until our next ride in February (Cannock Chase away day) happy riding and best wishes...
Kind Regards
Scott
