January 2011

Another year gone, I don't know about you but I would love to know where 2010 went!? As always 2010 was another very busy season for us both with our group ride events and also with the race season, it was certainly nice to have a 'rest' over the Autumn and Winter months. Infact our winter rest period was far than quiet, we have been busy all winter setting BucksMTB up as an official Mountain Bike Club. I can now report to you that BucksMTB is a fully affiliated and insured Mountain Bike Club and is affiliated to BikeClub and the CTC. This of course is a huge step for us, and is also great news for you the local riders, as we will now be able to offer more rides, insurance, club membership and loads more - more news on all of this coming very soon.

Best Regards and Happy New Year!

Scott
On behalf of the whole BucksMTB Team

After the huge success of our monthly Cross Country group rides really in 2009/2010 we are still promoting at least one monthly ride again throughout 2011 with various new routes and locations on the agenda.

We we super stoked to have so much interest and people attending our 2009 and 2010 group rides so we have loads of plans and ideas for 2011/2012.

Our January Chiltern Hills XC New Years Group Ride is this weekend, tomorrow infact (29th January). We have got a fantastic number of riders registered to attend so it should be a great day or riding and socialising!

Our next Group Ride will be our Cannock Chase Away Day to be held on Saturday 26th February 2011. More details are online the main website.

For later on in 2011 we have plans for rides at locations including various local venues, Swinley Forest, Woburn, Cannock Chase, Wales and many more - keep your eyes peeled on the website for more group ride news and updates coming soon...

New Beginnings - BucksMTB The Mountain Bike Club

For those of you that have been followers of BucksMTB for some time may well know we have a long and varied history.

The website has been running now for eight long years, and the site as you see it today differs a huge amount to the early versions.

The first humble website was started in 2002 purely as a showcase for our photos and personal riding adventures.

Over the years the website has grown bigger and bigger and with more and more support each year the website has gone from strength to strength.

Over the years as the website has expanded so has the team and our offerings to you, the local riders.

For the past couple of years now we have been running regular monthly Cross Country group rides and have organised DH/4X Days, away riding days and have been involved in various other local events.

Our next logical step to combine all of our ideas and offerings, and to be able to offer those sensible and safely has resulted in BucksMTB forming into a Mountain Bike Club. Not just any Mountain Bike Club either, a fully affiliated and insured Club with affiliations to the CTC and BikeClub. We are not one of these organisations claiming falsely to be a 'club', we can now hold our heads high and say we are an official Mountain Bike Club, and on that note we are a Mountain Bike Club for you, the local riders.

As of January 2011 we are now an official Mountain Bike Club.

The new appointment of BucksMTB as a Club brings many new possibilities to our team in regard to what we can offer and organise for you. It also means we can expand on current offerings and ideas and also introduce many new offerings, ideas and locally organised group rides and events.

From all the team at BucksMTB we would like to say a huge thanks to BikeClub who have assisted us greatly in getting setup as an official Club, and also a huge thank you to them for providing some funding for us to expand and improve both the Club and the website.

Please keep checking back to the site, and keep an eye in your email inboxes for more news and information on what we are going to be able to start offering very soon.

Thank you to you all for being so loyal and supportive over the years, and we hope to be able to see you all more regularly and we look forward to the new ideas and products that we will be able to provide for you.

Here's to our fresh new beginnings and to many more years of BucksMTB.

Uptonogood 2011 Event Preview

Last year The Uptonogood MTB Event was organised by the Upton Village Parish Council (South Oxon). Everyone's help and attendance enabled the Village to raise some £3000 for the Village Hall, £500 for Blewbury School and pay a donation of £250 to Didcot Air Cadets for their help with event marshalling.

This year the Upton team hope to top £5000 for village causes, and the organising team are expecting greater numbers of participants. As the works on the Village Hall are largely complete this could mean significant funds towards other village projects. If you have any suggestions then the Upton team would like to hear them.

This year’s event will be on Sunday the 19th of June and will be run to the same format / routes as last year.

More info and details and photos form the 2010 event can be found here - http://www.uptonvillage.co.uk/uptonogood-2010/

Mud & Mayhem MTB Events 2011
Duathlon March 20th 2011 and
 Triathlon May 22nd 2011‏

Two new dates for your 2011 diaries...

After the success of the 2010 Duathlon series last year (see race report link below) we are pleased to report that the Mud & Mayhem event is back in Thetford for 2011. The first leg of the Duathlon series will be located in the St Helens area of Thetford forest on 20th March.

A new bike course has been designed that is both challenging and rewarding with technical sections through the forest and some great whoops and fast descents thrown in. The run is equally beautiful running along the little Ouse river and crossing back via a wooden bridge. An event not to be missed.

A new event for 2011. The team behind Mud & Mayhem are combing with three other races to offer the Scott X Tri off road triathlon series. The first event is in Northampton on 22nd May 2011. Located in the shadow of the 14th century Delepre Abbey and with multi distance racing on offer this proves to be a great new event.
