The Ascent shorts are a nice versatile lightweight and comfortable pair of riding specific shorts that include several features found on far more expensive MTB shorts.

The main bonus with these for the money is the addition of a removable inner short with pad. This is a fully removable stretch inner short accompanied with a coolmax insert pad. The inner short is light, comfortable and fully removable for washing, or if you just want to wear the outer short for casual duties.

The shorts feature zip fly and popper closure, along with a light weight webbing belt with clip making sure you can get them done up and sitting comfortable.

These shorts boost plenty of pockets too for your usual tools and accessories out on the trails; there are pockets on the hips as always and twin zipped integral cargo pockets.

Sizing wise, they are a generous fit, but I would recommend going up one size bigger than your normal trouser size (i.e. if you take a Large, buy XL in these shorts) just for a bit more room in the waist.

Overall these are a fantastic riding short. Aimed at the base level of MTB kit these are far superior to many more expensive shorts and should be a consideration for your next pair of shorts. The shorts are clean, very versatile and include many good features, and for £35 you can’t really go wrong.

Does the job. Not the most exciting looking short ever but comfortable, washes well, includes a removable liner short and its a fraction of the cost of the competition.
