Shimano XTR Rear Derailleur (M-970 low normal)

Ok so for most of you if you were spending serious money on a rear derailleur would probably opt for the latest in the SRAM XO gear...

Ok so the Sram kit
looks absolutely gorgeous, especially with the carbon on it - dont get me wrong, but the problem with Sram is even compared to XTR it costs an absolute fortune. The list price of the new super sleek 2007 XTR rear mech is £84.99, compared to SRAM’s XO at a massive £164.99 (just for a mech!).

Both the XTR and Sram kit are the top-notch wet dream making bike components we all dream of owning, but the price difference is astounding!!! For many people the decision between would be simple...what would you go for? I know I couldn't justify or live with myself after breaking a £165 mech!!!!

Now we cant miss the fact that, ok it may not have carbon parts like the Sram kit, but my the XTR kit is damn good looking kit this year. The built in 'X' is certainly the most noticeable feature of the mech, but the whole finish is superb.

The XTR derailleur coupled with the direct control levers has been outstanding so far with faultless shifting that is quick and precise - its precision engineering for sure. I have had no miss shifting or any other problems either to that matter.
I’m certainly looking forward to using them under racing conditions to see how much of a difference they will make to my riding.
