New for 2008: GPS & Mapping Downloads

Through 2007, TrailBreak been running an occasional trial GPS and digital mapping downloads of their Trail ride routes prior to events. Starting from the Shackleford Trail Ride in January 2008, these will become a regular feature for every event.

The downloads will be available only to riders who have pre entered and will be downloadable a couple of days prior to the event. Trailbreak offer a choice of formats to ensure as far as possible that they are compatible with the hardware and software you use, and we’ll include links and advice to help you convert files between formats if you need to.

So, if you use a GPS or maybe have one on your Christmas list, you’ll be able to negotiate the Trail Ride courses with even more ease. Of course, if you don’t use a GPS, don’t worry; TrailBreak will still be marking the routes and providing a detailed route map just as they always have.

New for 2008: SportIdent ride timing

For  January to April 2008 Trail rides, trailbreak will be trialing their new SportIdent timing system as an option on the Southern Trail Rides. SportIdent works with a wrist tag and electronic timing boxes to give you instant feed back on your ride, including overall times and split times between checkpoints, all within seconds of finishing your ride. TrailBreak have  been using SportIdent for our Navigators, enduros and cyclosportives for several years and know that the instant results printout really adds an extra dimension to the ride.

Trailbreak know they get two types of rider on the Trail rides; those who try hard for a good time and those who just want to enjoy the ride. So SportIdent timing will be an optional extra rather than compulsory on the Trail rides and the number of tags available will initially be limited. Hire of a SportIdent tag for the ride will be £1. You’ll still be able to ride with just a time card as usual, instead of the SportIdent tag if you prefer.
