Just a quick reminder of the 2 West Drayton
Mountain Bike club events that are fast approaching...
The long established
Bucks off-road classic is on May 11th and with a break of tradition
the start has now been moved to the Martin Baker Sports Club , this
move will see better facilities for entrants with changing facilities,
a licensed bar and food available and new for this year there will be
the opportunity of a post ride massage.
Entries are limited so
riders are encouraged to pre-enter and at £10, which covers free food
around the route, the event is excellent value for money. GPX maps
will be available for download but don’t worry if you do not have GPS
the course will be marked and all riders are provided with a map and
directions as a back up.
On June 8th the club
promote their 4th cross country race at Black Park Country Park Bucks,
the course will once again be improved and extended with lap distances
likely to be close to 3 miles and this year as well as all the normal
categories there is the addition of a single speed category and in
true single speed tradition a crate of beer is lined up for the
winner. The course although flat is a mixture of fast forest tracks
and flowing technical single track and was well received by all those
who rode last year. The absence of any dangerous drop offs or descents
makes this an ideal course for those wanting to try off-road racing,
although don’t be fooled the single track is certainly technical
enough at speed to catch you out !
All winners as usual
will receive trophies as well as prizes with the customary bottle of
bubbly for spraying on the podium.
